Here at the Merton Film Office, managed by The Film Office we’ve had a fantastic year filled with fabulous productions of all shapes and sizes, and as the curtains close on 2022 we look back in fondness through a little round up of some of our most recent projects. We can’t wait to see what 2023 holds for Merton!
Christmas Carole
Sky have announced this Christmas they will be airing a modern take on Charles Dicken’s renowned novel – A Christmas Carol and are calling ‘Christmas Carole’. Suranne Jones will star as an unashamedly wealthy entrepreneur Carole who runs a business selling all things festive is actually a right Scrooge when it comes to Christmas. As she takes a step into her Christmas past, present and future, will this help her discover the true spirit of Christmas?
The production filmed on Worple Road outside Ely’s department store with establishing shots and their character entering / exiting the store.
We are delighted to have welcomed some festive joy into the borough through this exciting adaptation of a Christmas classic and can’t wait to see the final result when it hits our screens on Christmas Eve, look at for a peep of Merton when it airs and in the meantime you can watch the trailer below!
Commercials Wheel into Wimbledon Park…
Merton’s widely loved Wimbledon Park has played host to several productions this year, showcasing it’s wide selection of features such as ponds and lakes, ornamental gardens and sports facilities such as an Athletics Track and Football Pitches.
Two stand out commercials from 2022 are a Virgin Radio ad that stars National treasure presenters Graham Norton and Chris Evans, spotted strolling around Wimbledon Park next to the beautiful lake. As well as an ad campaign for Revive Active starring the commonwealth games champion, Eilish McColgan at the Athletics Track promoting Revive’s supplements. Beth Elliott, the Film Officer on the job said, “We’re proud to have hosted this production at the ever popular Athletics Track featuring such a fantastic athlete and brilliant role model as Eilish, and especially to be able to showcase the Athletics Track as the filming-friendly and brilliant location it is!”
