We are delighted to announce The Film Office has been awarded the management of Merton Council’s Film Service.
From 1st July 2019 we will provide a one stop shop for all enquiries and applications for filming within the borough. We are very much looking forward to working with Merton Council, the residents of the borough and production companies alike in highlighting the diverse potential Merton has to offer as London’s newest filming destination.
Merton has won a Cultural Impact Award as part of the Mayor of London’s London Borough of Culture initiative, and the film service will complement this. This award provides funding to bring film to the whole of Merton in 2019, creating pop-up cinemas and short films curated by the community and guest curators.
The borough has some fantastic locations such as Wimbledon Park – home of the All England Lawn Tennis Club, Mitcham Common – providing a range of habitats here with woodland and scrub, ponds and grassland, Vestry Hall – a beautiful Victorian building with wonderful wood panelled rooms, Morden Assembly Hall – a classic hall with stage and Merton Arts Space – a flexible space in the heart of Wimbledon to name but a few with multiple parks and commercial centres available for filming. We look forward to unearthing more gems in future.
The Film Office has a proven track record in providing and maintaining professional, considerate and proactive film management. We work hard to maintain an industry leading film friendly service while exploring the benefits that filming can bring to both it’s residents and the wider community.
Our reputation within the industry means that we are the first port of call for location managers and productions when looking for locations to source, plan and manage their location filming requirements with ease and efficiency.
The Film Office Director Dominic Reeve-Tucker said
“We are delighted to add Merton as a client borough and look forward to opening its doors to the creative industries. London is now the second busiest city in the world for filmmaking and its screen industries are a global success story. Our service management starts at the same time as the Wimbledon Championships – not quite new balls but new service – so we look forward to an exciting summer on both fronts!
We are dedicated to providing a holistic approach to film management in order to sustain filming in the long-term. Our successful track record and leading reputation within the industry has been recognised by Merton Council and we look forward to delivering a service that works for and benefits both the borough and industry.”
Cabinet Member for Commerce, Leisure and Culture, Councillor Caroline Cooper-Marbiah said:
It’s a pleasure to welcome The Film Office to Merton and we are looking forward to supporting them in their work to promote Merton to the film industry. The borough has huge potential as a filming location with new sites waiting to be discovered and opportunities to be maximised. I am confident The Film Office will bring a fresh approach to the marketing and promotion of these locations, and they will put Merton firmly on the map for great filming locations.
